Irma van Osch – illustrator
People play a central role in my work. What I enjoy most is bringing their inner worlds to life on paper, with a particular focus on facial expressions. Through subtle shifts in expression—and occasionally body language—I aim to convey the mood of the text.
My clients include newspapers, magazines, and publishing houses. I am especially drawn to texts that delve into the complexity of people's lives, covering topics ranging from psychology and philosophy to culture, parenting, healthcare, and literature.
My illustrations blend a light, airy aesthetic with genuine depth. They are designed to enhance engagement, complement the narrative, and clarify meaning. On a subconscious level, they invite reflection. Ultimately, these are images that resonate emotionally and encourage the viewer to linger.
My work is characterized by soft lines that remain nuanced rather than cloying. Working with attention to detail, I use a spectrum of greys complemented by colour. Through varied materials and textures, I strive to capture the perfect atmosphere.
